This course is aimed at mental health professionals who are currently working in a therapeutic capacity with patients of any age, and are interested in addressing some of the fundamental aspects of psychoanalytic practice.
Participants will learn aspects of a psychoanalytic approach to symptoms, diagnosis and structure, as well as transference and interpretation. The aim is to introduce participants to these complex concepts and their application in clinical work. The two sessions will use a combination of theoretical discussion, readings, deidentified case material and published psychoanalytic case studies, with an emphasis on theoretical development and its practical application. No prior psychoanalytic knowledge is required; however, several readings are provided prior to assist with an introduction to the concepts.
