Counselling Couples

January 17
10.00am to 4.00pm

Cost – $150

Couples come for counselling because they are discontented, angry, disillusioned, and are in conflict over roles, over love, fear of intimacy and fear of the future. They say that they want a close relationship, but fail to achieve it. Counselling with two people is much more complex than one-on-one counselling. This program will examine some of the complexities, identify the problems, explore alternative ways of managing dissatisfaction and conflict, help the couple regain confidence in themselves and their relationship. If positive objectives can be reached, this is a very satisfying counseling experience.

Managing Difficult People and Situations

People may be difficult for a variety of reasons. Without warning they can quickly become moody, irrational and angry. Every day we can find ourselves needing the skills to deal with people who feel they have not been treated fairly, or people who are demanding, manipulative or abusive. Difficult people can upset a whole workplace for days or weeks and can leave people wondering how things could have been managed differently.

Difficult people can be:

  • Always complaining, overly negative, frequently critical
  • Unable to leave past situations behind
  • Hostile and disruptive to the team
  • Lacking in communication skills or self-esteem.

In this workshop you will gain the skills you need to increase your personal resilience in difficult situations. You will learn to understand the consequences of different approaches to managing challenging relationships. Participants will be presented with several different approaches to conflict management, and learn how to effectively apply them to their working and personal life.

This one-day workshop is designed to help you:

  • Understand the psychology of the “difficult” person
  • Understand common reactions to interpersonal conflict
  • Breathing/relaxation exercises to remain calm and gain confidence
  • Using communication skills to connect with the individual and diffuse situations.

Managing Anger

Many of us become alarmed when our anger gets out of control. While there is nothing wrong with the occasional outburst, if anger continues it can become a Concern to you and to those around you. In this workshop you will learn the steps and skills you need to better understand and manage your anger more effectively.

It will also help you understand and manage the anger of family members, colleagues, bosses or employees. In this workshop you will also learn the importance of self-awareness, thinking before you act and other well proven anger management techniques.

This one-day workshop is designed to help you:

  • Recognise how anger affects your thoughts, feelings and behaviours
  • Define your anger and look at why it is not helping you get what you want
  • Discover the impact of your anger on other people
  • Learn a method to break old patterns and assert yourself before anger takes over
  • Develop solutions for a more effective expression of emotions
  • Harness your own emotions when faced with other people’s anger.
